Full Throttle FAMILY FUN DAY at the Esperance Speedway this Saturday
celebrating 45 years of Speedway
It’s a day and evening of FUN for the whole family!
The FULL-THROTTLE Family Night 2019 is on this Saturday, April 13th at the Esperance Speedway off Myrup road and it promises to be an exciting and entertaining event.
The club are celebrating their 45th year of existence after four young lads, Casper Castledine, Marcus Gray, Gavan Jones and Eddie Cartledge in 1974 with the help of other keen members of the community decided to lay down a track about 15kms north of the town. The facilities are still holding firm today, with some help across the years, and remains the premier racing arena in the region.
The club are adjusting the times of the meet to accommodate for the younger spectators with gates opening at 2pm before racing starts at 4pm with the Junior Sedan Open, with up and coming driving stars competing for the trophy. The Street Stock Open will follow soon after.
The highlight undoubtedly though, will be the Demolition Derby, which will be the final event of the night. A mixture of racing, skilled driving, crashing and bashing is always a great spectacle, and organisers are encouraging event-goers to bring their rotten eggs, rotten tomatoes, rotten apples (anything rotten!) to hurl at the cars as they go past. Great fun for the kids!
Make sure you get down there this Saturday afternoon. It’s the last meet of the season and a great chance to have some fun with the family and celebrate the tireless work done by volunteers making the Esperance Speedway the successful organisation that it is and has been for 45 years!
