Triple M's Mark Howard has recalled a brilliant story about going fishing with Cyril Rioli and his family 10 years ago.

HOWIE'S CYRIL STORY:

Howie was filming a Rising Stars segment back in 2008, Rioli's first year in the AFL, when the group went barramundi fishing.

"In 2008 in his first year, Channel 10 had the footy and we were doing Rising Star stories," he said on Triple M's Friday Huddle.

"We spent a day and a half with Cyril senior and Cathy, his mum, and Michael Long and Cyril, and went out barramundi fishing," he said.

He said he'll never forget the experience of watching what Rioli did.

"I'll never forget it," he said.

"It'll stay with me as long as I live."
