A man who abandoned his toddler son in a Queensland park and lied about it for a decade has been sentenced to 12 years in jail for manslaughter.

Shane Arthur Simpson admitted guilt in court this week after leaving the neglected boy he was tired of looking after in a park at dusk in May 2007.

But he has shown no remorse for his neglect, Justice Peter Applegarth told the Brisbane Supreme Court as he sentenced Simpson to 12 years in prison on Thursday.

Baden Bond's body has never been found and no one knows what happened to him after he was abandoned on the banks of the Logan River, south of Brisbane.

The boy was born to Dina Colleen Bond with methamphetamine in his system, so he and his siblings were taken into state care after his birth.

His parents blamed him for that, the court heard this week.

Bond pleaded guilty to two counts of being an accessory to the manslaughter for keeping up the lies about Baden, including that he was living with relatives or was in foster care.

She was sentenced to three years imprisonment but with time served will be eligible for parole immediately.
